The Syrian Expatriate Youth Forum 2009

SYRIA: My Home and My Roots

The Ministry of Expatriates in cooperation with The Syrian Commission for Family Affairs hold The Syrian Expatriate Youth Forum 2009, "SYRIA: My Home and My Roots" in the period between 24 July - 2 August 2009. The Forum will bring together about 60 expatriate young men and women, aged between 18 and 25, from different countries with their young counterparts living in Syria . The forum is based on a constructive and high-level programme providing diverse cultural, tourist, and interactive activities in different Syrian governorates and cities. The forum aims at creating a state of positive interaction between the young expatriates and their mother country; and it will be as a platform for the expatriate youth to learn about the history, culture, society and the various aspects of the Syrian life in a way that deepens their ties with the mother country.

The Ministry of Expatriates invites the young Syrian expatriates to apply to the forum through the Syrian embassies or the expatriate bodies (honorary consulates, associations, clubs, and friendship societies) in the country of residence no later than 20 May 2009. A specialized committee will study the applications to identify selected candidates according to objective selection criteria. Selected candidates will be contacted in a week after application closing date to start the arrangements of their participation.

The Ministry of Expatriates and the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs will cover all the expenses of accommodation, and transportation during the forum and will provide all participants' needs during their stay in Syria while participants have only to pay the air fare of their flight tickets.

Participation Conditions:

  • Age between 18-25 years old.
  • Good command of Arabic or English.
  • Candidates should be committed to participate in the forum in the specified period in case of selection.
